Turn That Frown Upside Down
Re-framing Academic Integrity Awareness

Caleb Domsy, Najeeb Ahmed, & Christopher Rugo
Humber College

Session description: When Humber librarians were asked to give a talk on academic integrity, we declined but we couldn’t ignore the academic integrity awareness gap for incoming students. Something needed to be done! We found a creative commons module built by York University Libraries and adapted it. The product turned out well, but our team still felt we needed something different. We conducted a pre-launch roadshow inviting various stakeholders from the broader college academic integrity community. Based on their feedback we re-built the module from the ground up applying a scenario driven approach that includes trending concerns such as artificial intelligence. The interactive module is built using Articulate Rise and H5P which allows it to be responsive, scalable, and accessible.

Attend our session to learn about how we built this educational tool that focuses on the value of academic integrity instead of lingering on the punishments for those who commit misconduct. You’ll be invited to give feedback and to share what academic integrity education looks like in your context. Maybe you’ll want to adopt and adapt our creative commons licensed module.
