"Think McFly, Think!": Building Community Through Collections

Session description: Humber Libraries’ Community Building and Outreach Fund began in 2019 in an effort to build student leisure collections with an emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion. Each year, the library selects a timely issue or genre and purchases books from a local, specialty bookstore. Learn how the library builds partnerships with student departments and supports local bookstores in this exciting initiative that is changing the shape of our library collections in meaningful, collaborative and creative ways.

• Apply a social justice lens to collection development

• Illustrate methods of building community and partnerships through collections 

• Create inclusive leisure reading collections in innovative ways
